Today, November 18th, 2024, marks the 96th anniversary of Steamboat Willie, an animated short film that saw the debut of Mickey and Minnie Mouse. The two Disney characters have become the most globally recognizable icons in animation with people traveling from around the world to Disney Parks just to meet them. In celebration, Disneyland, Walt Disney World, Tokyo Disney Resort, Disneyland Paris, Hong Kong Disneyland, and Shanghai Disneyland have all shared posts on social media wishing the couple a happy birthday.
Starting with Disneyland, the California resort shared a sweet animation of the pair celebrating their birthday in Mickey’s Toontown. The clip invites viewers to help them blow out their candles, which results in a “cake-tastic surprise.”
Heading to our next stop, Walt Disney World in Florida shared a post on Instagram with Daisy inviting viewers to sign Mickey and Minnie’s birthday card in the comments. You also get to see all three characters in their birthday celebration outfits.
At Tokyo Disney Resort, Mickey and Minnie are celebrating in Tokyo DisneySea’s brand new Fantasy Springs. In a picture of the pair dressed in their matching Fantasy Springs outfits, the resort asks everyone to share what they love about the iconic duo in the comments.
Disneyland Paris shared a short video of Mickey and Minnie celebrating their birthdays together. In the adorable clip, Mickey and Minnie both surprise each other with presents in front of Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant. Joyeux Anniversaire Mickey et Minnie!
Hong Kong Disneyland also shared a sweet post for the pair's 96th. In an Instagram picture featuring Mickey and Minnie in their holiday outfits, the resort invites guests to share a message for the couple in the comments.
Earlier this week, Shanghai Disneyland announced they would celebrate Mickey and Minnie’s 96th birthday with adorable special outfits. Guests got to celebrate with the duo in front of Enchanted Storybook Castle in their new birthday fits earlier today.
Finally, the official Disney Parks X account shared a nostalgic clip of Mickey and Minnie in matching outfits throughout the years. Catch them in their many iconic looks, including their High School Musical Wildcat uniforms in the 12 second video.
