Disneyland Paris has introduced a new service for guests with disabilities that will encourage communication as part of the resort’s ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion.
What’s Happening:
- Disneyland Paris has introduced a new service for guests with disabilities, offering the Disneyland Paris Image Bank as an option for those who have difficulty communicating verbally.
- The service features a series of images representing key experiences throughout Disneyland Paris, including attractions, shows, dining, merchandise, and Disney Characters.
- These images will allow guests to better communicate their interests, using the elements that the images describe.
- It’s a service that complements the existing pictograms that guests already use to communicate, and is free to download in French and English on the accessibility page of the official Disneyland Paris website. With this, guests can prepare and familiarize themselves before their visit.
- This service follows the launch of AudioSpot audio description services in 2022, and Virtuoz tactile maps in 2023 – services that debuted to assist guests who are blind and visually impaired.
- The Image Bank project was a joint effort by the guest accessibility team at Disneyland Paris, Walt Disney Imagineering, and several specialized consultants who have spent a year researching and designing the program.
- This makes Disneyland Paris the first theme park in France to offer this service.
- This service joins and already stacked lineup of services to help guests with disabilities, including audio description in attractions, restaurants and select shows, French sign language interpretation in select shows, accessibility guides and maps, priority access cards, and wheelchair-accessible vehicles – as part of an ever-expanding program so that all guests feel welcome and can enjoy the best possible experience.
