Photos: Pandora – The World of Avatar Bioluminescent Ground Getting a Repaint

The Na’vi pathways get a refresh at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

The ground at Pandora – The World of Avatar is getting a repaint to spruce up the area’s bioluminescent effect at night.

Pandora has long been a theme park land that truly stands out for having such a different and arguably even more powerful feel at night, where the Bioluminescent look of the planet from the Avatar films can truly stand out, and that look extends to the ground you walk on. However, the paint required to keep this effect going can easily fade (no doubt not helped by all the people constantly walking on it), leading to a lesser overall impact when it’s not functioning as intended.

In the Pandora section at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, barriers are currently up, as the refresh on the paint job is underway.

And here’s a look, going back to the 2017 grand opening of Pandora: The World of Avatar, of how the ground can look at night under optimal conditions.

Of course, Animal Kingdom often having such limited nighttime hours is also a frequent obstacle to seeing Pandora stand out at night, so hopefully more opportunities are coming in that regard.
