Yesterday the Disney-owned ESPN released a new promo for its upcoming special event The Simpsons Funday Football via its social media feeds.
What’s happening:
- A new promo has been released for The Simpsons Funday Football, an “alt” telecast” during which fans can tune in to an animated Monday Night Football game “transformed in real-time into the iconic Simpsons world using Sony’s Beyond Sports Technology.” Voice actors Hank Azaria (Moe Szyslak), Nancy Cartwright (Bart Simpson), Dan Castellaneta (Homer Simpson), Julie Kavner (Marge Simpson) and Yeardley Smith (Lisa Simpson) will voice several of their characters in prerecorded skits.
- This special event presentation will stream on Disney+ and ESPN+ on Monday evening, December 9th. Plus, both the traditional telecast and Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli will also be on ESPN+, making each distinct presentation available in the ESPN App. All telecasts will begin at 8 p.m. ET.
- This is the second consecutive year ESPN, Disney and the NFL have presented a “Funday Football” telecast, with last year’s being themed to Pixar’s Toy Story franchise.
What they’re saying:
- ESPN: “The countdown is on for Bart, Homer & The Simpsons Funday Football. Check out a second, new video highlighting what fans can expect from the alt. Telecast.”
- “Ay, Caramba! The Simpsons Funday Football Streams Live December 9 on Disney+ and ESPN+, a Real-Time Animated Monday Night Football Game Featuring the Bengals and Cowboys in the Iconic Simpsons Cartoon World.”
- “The legendary Simpsons creators have collaborated on the look, sound and feel with ESPN and the NFL to ensure the authenticity of the longest running primetime scripted series with more than 750 episodes.”
The Simpsons Funday Football will air live at 8:00 PM Eastern Time on Monday, December 9th exclusively via Disney+ and ESPN+.
