Disney Springs is just months away from starting the opening phase of the Town Center area and work is going at full speed. With the announcement of 30 new offerings coming to the area, we thought we would take a look at the latest work being done to the former Downtown Disney.
With a new larger transportation hub, this area will be where most guests will start and end their visit to Disney Springs. With this view, you can see the former parking area for Pleasure Island has been greatly expanded including the newly erected Disney Springs Water Tower.Coming out of the Disney Springs Orange Parking Garage toward The Landing (former Pleasure Island), the first things we see are the Coca-Cola Store next to the transforming Planet Hollywood Observatory.Along the Landing Bridge, the STK Steak House is nearing completion.Heading from The Landing to Town Center buildings are getting final touches as the beautiful springs continue to flow.Some of the biggest buildings (along with a clash of styles) come on the Marketplace side with these buildings being created on the walkway between The Lego Store and T-Rex restaurant. The Marketplace is also in a state of change, with new smaller shops buildings popping up around the bridges and Fulton’s Crab House about to go down for a change it will be intruding to see how much of the old Lake Buena Vista Shopping Village will be recognizable when all is said and done. Even some of the older stores in The Marketplace are being updated or changed. With the back section of Once Upon A Toy being changed to the new home of Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique there really will be a clash between Star Wars and the Disney Princesses.Next door at the Marketplace Co-Op the former home of stylish girl clothes Zoey & Pickles is now closed for the future home of the Disney TAG (Travel-Accessories-Gear) shop which the Disney Parks Blog just gave a sneak peek of.One of the unannounced closures of Disney Springs is the long-standing Mickey’s Pantry that will be closed for a refurbishment till mid-March.
