For kids looking to expand their knowledge of the characters in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story comes a new book that will give them all the background information they may be missing. Star Wars: Rogue One Rebel Dossier places readers in the middle of the rebellion via transmissions intercepted from the Rebel Alliance.
Most of the pages in this book are transmissions between Mon Mothma, Commander in Chief of the Rebel Alliance, and her followers. The book begins with a State of the Rebellion, State of the Empire, and State of the Galaxy. Some of the files include all of the information the Alliance has on Jyn Erso, Galen Erso, Saw Gerrera, Captain Cassian Andor, K-2SO, Bodhi Rook, and the Guardians of the Wills, Chirrut Imwe and Baze Malbus.
Other items focused on in this dossier are the world of Jeddha and the types of threats the rebels may find there, including different types of storm troopers. It also analyzes members of the Empire, including Director Orson Krennick, Grand Moff Tarkin, and Darth Vader. And lastly, the types of vehicles and weapons the Empire has stations on Jeddha.
The book does not attempt to retell all of the events from Rogue One and truly only covers items relevant to the first half of the film. It ends with an incoming transmission that states that what they thought was a new moon is not a moon at all. A picture of the Death Star is included with this final cryptic transmission.
Star Wars: Rogue One Rebel Dossier is recommended for ages 8 to 12 and I agree that this book would be perfect for kids that age who are interested in reading more about the characters from Disney’s billion dollar blockbuster. It was fun reading more about the characters, although there isn’t much here that isn’t included in the film.
