Oren Aviv Named President of Buena Vista Pictures Marketing
Effective immediately, Oren Aviv has been named president of Buena Vista Pictures Marketing, it was announced today, Monday, November 27, by Walt Disney Studios Chairman Peter Schneider and Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group Chairman, Richard Cook. Aviv assumes this role following the departure of Co-President Geoffrey Ammer. Aviv will continue to report directly to Richard Cook.
In making the announcement Schneider said, "Over the past year, Oren has proven himself to be a leader in marketing as well as an integral part of the Motion Pictures Group. He is enormously talented and his out-of-box style has continued to put our films in the forefront."
Cook adds, "Having worked with Oren over the past nine years, I have watched him grow into the quintessential executive. His exceptional filmmaker relationships, creative instincts, great taste and high level of energy are a vital part of our business. Oren's big picture mentality is essential in the ever-changing and complex world of marketing. I know that he will continue to be a great success."
As President of Buena Vista Pictures Marketing, Aviv will continue to oversee all creative materials, publicity, promotions, research, media and internet development and marketing. Under his administration, Aviv developed and led the marketing and creative strategies for the hit films "Unbreakable," "102 Dalmatians," "Gone in 60 Seconds," "Remember The Titans," "Coyote Ugly" and the upcoming epic adventure "Pearl Harbor."
Aviv joined Buena Pictures Marketing in 1991 as vice president, Creative Services. He was later promoted to senior vice president Marketing and creative director. During his tenure, Aviv was responsible for the creative campaigns for "The Sixth Sense," "Armageddon," "The Rock," "Ransom," "Sister Act," "Crimson Tide" "101 Dalmatians," "The Santa Clause" among others.
Aviv has won such prestigious advertising awards such as Clios, Beldings and numerous Key Art Awards.
On the film production side, Aviv was executive producer of the 1995 Disney feature "Rocket Man."
Prior to joining Disney, Aviv was director of Special Projects for CapCities/ABC. He was responsible for creating special television branding spots for premiering series including "Roseanne," "Twin Peaks," among others.
Aviv graduated from Columbia University, receiving a BA in English and History.
