It's so nice to see you all again. Now that the hurricanes have left me alone, I can get back to business. There's a lot of catching up to do this week, so don't waste any time reading my introduction.
Disneyland
On the positive front, there have been some major attraction rumors going around. Apparently the guns will be returning to the Jungle Cruise, but that's only the beginning of the changes at that attraction. The subs have also been checked very carefully recently for a possible return with a Finding Nemo theme. For more details, visit MiceAge.com and Disneyland Resort President Matt Ouimet's own comments in the Orange County Register.
Less positive are various rumors of cutbacks at the parks including some shops (including the Magic shop and 20th Century Music) not opening until two hours after park open and entertainment cuts at New Orleans Square including Lagniappe the mime and the tap dancer.
Discussion Board poster TP2000 describes some recent firework testing he saw after hours that may be for Disneyland's 50th show. Click here for the posts.
Taste Pilot's Grill at DCA has begun testing self-service machines for ordering. The machines accept cash or credit cards and automatically give discounts with the swiping of a Cast Member ID or Annual Pass. Then take the receipt to the counter and pick up your food. The plan is to test through the holidays to see how they hold up under peak usage.
With all the construction going on, there have been some shop changes. The Heraldry shop which was in the Castle is now at the old Villains shop (next to the Castle). And the cart where guests could learn the history of their names is now in Gepetto's near Village Haus.
On the Discussion Board poster Disnerd reports the locker prices have gone up at the Resort to $5 for a small, $6 for a medium and $7 for a large. Click here for the entire topic.
We've heard a rumor that a new touring Disney on Ice show celebrating Disneyland's 50th anniversary will be coming soon and will be in Anaheim around the time of Disneyland's 50th.
Another rumor has Tower of Terror being reprogrammed in Spring 2006 for a random drop sequence similar to that currently in Walt Disney World. But that's a ways off - anything can happen.
Unfortunately, we don't have a picture yet, but apparently the scene of the Prince kissing Sleeping Beauty from the Sleeping Beauty walk-through has been installed in one of the Emporium windows.
New atmosphere speakers will be installed at the Disneyland Resort. These all plastic speakers are hermetically sealed to prevent water, bugs, etc. from affecting sound quality. They also have better sound quality that the current speakers.
