Our first dinner aboard the Disney Fantasy was an unbelievably magical experience at Animator's Palate. Thanks to the the aptly named "Animation Magic" dining room show we enjoyed a small taste of what it must be like for Disney's animators to flip through their pages of drawings and see their characters come alive for the first time. Its no surprise "Animation Magic" won the Themed Entertainment Association award for "Ingenious Use of Technology." A definite "don't miss" experience.

Animator's Palate celebrates the tremendous legacy of Disney animation. Along its walls are various model sheets, sketches, and maquettes of Disney and Pixar characters. At our table Camilla from Brazil and Hazel from the Philippines welcomed us like family. They had a small cup of water with a straw waiting for Gideon and quickly brought out our requested beverages.

At each seat is a placemat with a gingerbread-man style shape, broken out into head, torso, arms, hands, legs and feet. Our servers explain that Mickey has left these for us and would like us to draw own characters for some animation magic he's working on later. All you have to do is keep it in the blue outlines and don't use any letters or numbers. Even though I have very little skill drawing the way they have broken out out the figure into various small areas, keeps it easily manageable. With the red Crayola marker in hand we created our characters.
