Program Airs With Video Description Via SAP

“Cadet Kelly,” featuring two of The Disney Channel’s bright young stars in a fun-filled and snappy comedy, makes its network television premiere - presented with a Video Description via SAP - as a presentation of “The Wonderful World of Disney,” SUNDAY, JULY 14 (7:00-9:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

“Cadet Kelly” makes its premiere on ABC after scoring a milestone on The Disney Channel by delivering that cable broadcaster's highest Nielsen Household rating ever.

Hilary Duff (of the Disney Channel's “Lizzie McGuire”) stars as 14-year-old Kelly Collins, whose mom marries the new commandant of a military academy. The fashion-minded and artistic Kelly finds her world turned upside-down when the new family moves to the academy, and she becomes the school's newest cadet. The rigors of military life – not to mention the lack of fashion – are driven home by the straight-laced and no-nonsense squad leader Jennifer Stone (Christy Carlson Romano of the Disney Channel's “Even Stevens” and “Disney’s Kim Possible”).

Just as things start going downhill, Cadet Kelly joins the school's prestigious drill team, which is headed by handsome upperclassman Brad Rigby (Shawn Ashmore, “X-Men”). Soon, she is marching in step with the team and squad leader Jennifer as they prepare for a major competition.

“Cadet Kelly” stars Hilary Duff as Cadet Kelly Collins, Christy Carlson Romano as Cadet Capt. Jennifer Stone, Linda Kash (“Best in Show,” “Ernest Goes to Africa”) as Samantha Collins Maxwell, Gary Cole (“One Hour Photo,” “The Brady Bunch Movie”) as Joe Maxwell (AKA Sir), Shawn Ashmore as Cadet Major Brad Rigby, Aimee Garcia as Cadet Sgt. Gloria Ramos, Nigel Hamer as Adam, Sarah Gadon as Amanda, Joe Matheson as Gen. Archer, Beverlee Buzon as Grace, Dalene Irvine as Marla, Avery Saltzman as Kevin and Christopher Tai as Sr. Cadet Officer.

The 2002 film was directed by Larry Shaw (Disney’s “Lizzie McGuire,” “No One Could Protect Her”). The teleplay was written by Gail Parent (TV’s “The Golden Girls” and “Rhoda”) and Michael Walsh. The film was produced by The Disney Channel and Walt Disney Television.
