Welcome the May 9th Disneyland Update. This update focuses on Downtown Disney and the Grand Californian Hotel. Also included are many more pictures of Disney's California Adventure, a new group of "Believe ... There's Magic in the Stars" pictures and a few other items from around the Resort - more than 70 pictures in all.
Rehabs and Upcoming
Attractions currently or soon closed for refurbishment include:
- Autopia - Currently closed. Reopens with a new sponsor late June.
- Honey, I Shrunk the Audience - Closed May 1st. Reopens May 12th.
- Sailing Ship Columbia - Closed May 9th. Reopens May 12th. Closed again May 24th. Reopens May 26th.
- Mark Twain - Closed May 16th. Reopens May 20th
- Main Street Cinema - Closed May 29th. Reopens September 30th.
Upcoming Events
- Beginning May 1st all guest can purchase a Disney's Walk of Magical Memories brick. These bricks, customized with names and a date, will be placed between the entrances of Disneyland and Disney' California Adventure. Price is $150 (the Premium Annual Passport discount does apply). - Saturday, May 13th will be a big day for
collectors: The Character of the Month, Snow White, will be released. Artist Peter
Emmerich will be at the Disneyana Shop from 1:30-3:30. Also on May 13th, the Disneyana
Shop has its Third Annual Disneyana Shop Celebration. The first 1,000 guests to visit will
receive a mini-litho of Walt. Also for sale will be two new cloisonne pins. They are a
"vintage style" depiction of Minnie and Mickey respectively. $10 each, limit of
2 per guest, no phone orders. In addition, resin sculptures of Mickey and Donald, created
by David Critchfield and Vic Fortunanto will also be for sale. Edition size is 1928, and
the cost is $65 each. For the major collectors, there will be a closed bid auction for the
castle that was once on top of the huge Disneyland Marquee. It is a closed bid, which must
be submitted at the Castle Gardens. For more details, call DelivEars at (800) 362-4533.
Click for details on the Character of the Month program or our feature on the removal of the Disneyland marquee. - On Sunday, May 14th, join other guests in the Festival Arena for an afternoon of musical entertainment, an autograph session, and character fun hosted by Radio Disney DJ Ernie D. Performing throughout the day will be Hollywood Records artists Gipsyland, Nydia Rojas, and La Costumbre. Also featured will be music from Walt Disney Records' new release "La Vida Mickey," highlighted by a live performance by Myra. The Festival Arena will be open from 11 a.m.to 5 p.m.
- Pirates of the Caribbean Special Event scheduled for May 20th. Tickets go on sale April 10th. Click here for details on the event and the merchandise that will be available.
Park Hours:
New Ticket Type
Disneyland is offering guests a special $45 for adults and children which
provides admission to Disneyland every Sunday through Thursday from 4p to closing from
April 30 to June 29, 2000 (excluding Memorial Day weekend, May 28 and 29). This pass also
includes a full day admission on the date of purchase. Guests can upgrade to an annual
pass anytime from April 30 until June 29, 2000. Parking may be added for an additional $12
covering the same period and guests who have paid the normal $7 parking fee for the day
may apply that toward the additional parking charges.
