Got the winter blues? I know the perfect way to cure them. How does 104 days of summer vacation all wrapped up in an hour and a half sound? Well, that’s just what all the folks from Danville and the tri-state area aim to bring you as “Disney’s Phineas and Ferb: The Best LIVE Tour Ever!” rolls across the country.
Produced by Feld Entertainment, Phineas and Ferb have decided that what they want to do today is put on the best live show ever - just for us! Described as “part action adventure and part rock concert”, you’ll find yourselves singing and dancing along to some of the most popular songs from the animated series while you join the boys on their last day of summer quest to build an invention “bigger, better and more amazing than ever”.
While the show takes place on the last day of summer, this is the first time “Phineas and Ferb” has been brought to the live stage, as well as the first professional dance gig for Orange County native, Julianne Jouglard.
Jouglard, who has been dancing in competitions since she was three years old, is having the time of her life. “This is our third month on tour,” she said, “and it’s flown by since it’s been so much fun. And I love being on a show that kids love to watch. I love being on a show where when you tell people that you’re with “Phineas and Ferb” they’re like, “(Gasp) Oh my gosh! I watch that every day!””
Though familiar with “Disney On Ice”, she had never heard of “Disney Live!” before going out for the show. “But there were so many people at that audition saying amazing things about it and I was like, “Wow, I really hope I get this one!” And I did. And I’m loving it!”
“Disney Live!” may have been a foreign notion to her at the time, but “Phineas and Ferb” definitely was not. “To be honest with you - it might be a little embarrassing - but I was 18 years old and watching the cartoon.” she said.
Nothing to be embarrassed about there. Though “Phineas and Ferb” has been TV’s #1 animated series among Tweens 9-14 for three years running, I know many an adult who enjoys watching it on a regular basis, myself included.
“The Best LIVE Tour Ever” also holds cross-generational appeal.
“There’s sprinkled in adult jokes, things that only adults would understand and then there’s jokes for kids - it’s really for everyone.” explains Jouglard. “It’s so funny because a lot of parents come up to us saying that they wanted to bring their kids because they knew their kids would love it, but then they found themselves laughing along with them.”
