Forever Magical

Not wanting to overlook a chance to party Doobie and I had booked a reservation at the "My Disneyland Birthday Party" at the Plaza Inn to celebrate our favorite mice. As we expected there were many other familiar faces who were also heading to the Plaza Inn to join in the fun. As we checked in we each received our special dated birthday button and a birthday hat. Once again I was filled with eager anticipation so when the familiar refrains of Happy, Happy Birthday to You, known to me from Splashdance, filled the air I very happily marched to my seat. I was very happy to be surrounded by friends as we celebrated Mickey and Minnies birthday.
Our host Pat E Cake was hilarious. He shared jokes like What is Mowglis favorite color? Balooo." He sang "It's Your Birthday", an upbeat ditty about birthdays as a chance to celebrate you and invited us to decorate our very own birthday cakes for a contest. I blended together my blue and yellow frosting to create a rather drab green frosting which Pat E kindly pointed out looked like guacamole. Doobie dug a hole in his cake and filled it with the toppings and covered it back up with his cake calling it a surprise cake. Pat Es running commentary on the various cakes kept me in stitches. There was a group of young girls who had unique nicknames for each which Pat E. confused and misstated much to their dismay. We were all surprised when Mickey and Minnie joined in the cake decorating, too. They almost always attend the Plaza Inn birthday party but I'd not ever seen them sit down and decorate their own birthday cake. What a treat!!!

Mickey dances as Pat E Cake sings
After they finished decorating their cakes, Mickey and Minnie lead the children on a dance around the tables and then posed for pictures. Doobie and I posed for a birthday photo with the guests of honor and wished them both happy birthday, again. As the celebration winded down, Pat E Cake once again sang his little birthday ditty, "It's your birthday". As he sang the chorus we joined in and we loudly called out the lyric, "a Disneyland day." The entire party was full of laughter and singing and friendship. Looking around the group, there were young and old, men and women, artists and computer geeks, extroverts and introverts all gathered together to celebrate 75 years of Mickey and Minnie.
At the end of the day the area outside of the
World of Disney was covered in birthday wishes and images from the Disney artists and
guests.
