Guest Column: The Many Adventures of a Passholder

Next, your probably thinking that everyone will think you’re a dork for having a Disneyland Pass, but trust me, they’ll be envious of it. After a while of going with some of your annual passholder friends, a few of your friends that don’t even have passes will ask if they can go with you for one day. It’s always exciting to bring new people to be with at the parks. My personal favorite thing to do is watch their facial expression as I tell them everything I know about the park. It’s such a complete shock, you won’t believe it. Even when I took one of my annual passholder friends from Junior High, he was amazed that I called the Indiana Jones Adventure attraction Indy. He said I was a total dork for calling it that. Trust me, it’s fun.

Also, as a passholder, you don’t have to do every single attraction every time you go. Some days you might just want to stay in Fantasyland or maybe you just want to do shows all day. As a passholder, you won’t feel ripped-off if you don’t do every single attraction that day. You can do things at your leisure. I personally saw some shows and went on some rides I have never been on before because of time restraints or someone doesn’t want to do it. I never knew how detailed the Mark Twain or the sailing ship Columbia was until I took the time to visit these awesome attractions. This year, I also saw, for the first time, Billy Hill and the Hillbillies. It’s a musical comedy, which I think is hilarious.

Finally, as an annual passholder, you get to see openings and closings of attractions, announcements of attractions and shows to come, and enjoy certain special treatment only annual passholders can enjoy. I was there on the final day of the Country Bear Jamboree. Let me just tell you that that was the most packed I’ve ever seen that show been. It was crazy and fun. I was also there to see Steps in Time close and give way to the awesome Blast! Also, I was there for the soft opening of Millionaire, thanks to Mark who is now a Millionaire-holic. Haunted Mansion Holiday first premiered while I had my pass, and even now, I was there on DCA’s one-year anniversary and received my free pin. You’ll enjoy this and a whole lot more, trust me.

As much fun as all this sounds, sadly my annual pass is going to expire on April 1, 2002. Yes, my Disney Days® are soon over. I enjoyed a great first year as an annual passholder thanks to my friends who made it all worth while. I’m not going to re-new my pass because I can’t really afford it at the moment, but maybe sometime in the future. But I encourage you, young ticket holders! Stop buying one-day tickets and enjoy the simple bliss of being a Disneyland Resort Annual Passholder. You won’t regret it, trust me.

Discuss It!
