#61. FAHRFENUGEN

Wheelie-ing his way onto the big screen, Herbie the VW Beetle with a mind of his own, starred in The Love Bug (March 13, 1969). Big box office prompted him to ride again in 1974, go to Monte Carlo in 1977 and go bananas in 1980.

#62. MEET DEXTER REILLY

Mixing college hi-jinks and high-tech mayhem, Kurt Russell starred as Dexter Reilly in the "Medfield College Trilogy", beginning with The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes (December 31, 1969). He turned invisible in Now You See Him, Now You Don't in 1972 and then became The Strongest Man in the World in 1975.

#63. NATURALMENT!

The 20th animated feature, and the first completed after Walt, The Aristocats (December 24, 1970) was a popular success for the Studios and set the (safe) tone for the next decade and a half of Disney animated films.

#64. LONG BEFORE HARRY POTTER ...

England had another novice magic-maker in Eglantine Price of Bedknobs and Broomsticks (December 13, 1971). While not a Poppins-level blockbuster, the musical merging of live action and animation won a special effects Oscar, notably for the disembodied armor attack on the Nazis in the film's thrilling climax.

#65. FOX IN TIGHTS

Previously filmed by Disney in the live action The Story of Robin Hood and His Merrie Men in 1952, the legendary British bandit got the animated, anthropomorphic animal treatment in Robin Hood (November 8, 1973).

#66. THE FLYING WINABEGO

Alien pre-teen sibs Tony and Tia Escape to Witch Mountain (March 21, 1975). When they Return from Witch Mountain in the 1978 sequel, they have to face off with the scariest being of all: Bette Davis.

#67. I WANNA BE A COWBOY

Tim Conway and Don Knotts teamed-up for the first time in the rip-snortin' family comedy The Apple Dumpling Gang (July 4, 1975). They returned for several other Disney films, including The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again in 1979.

#68. OF MICE AND MEN

Bernard and Bianca are The Rescuers (June 22, 1977), their mousy mission impossible: save a little orphan girl from the clutches of mad Madame Medusa. Extra kudos for succeeding in the summer of Star Wars.

#69. BRAZZLE DAZZLE 'EM

Elliott, the magical star and title character of Pete's Dragon (December 16, 1977), stole the show from such film legends as Mickey Rooney and Shelley Winters in this, the last live action musical fantasy to date.

#70. PARENTAL GUIDANCE SUGGESTED

In their attempt for their own Star Wars, the Disney Studios released the science fiction flick The Black Hole (December 20, 1979), the very first PG-rated Disney film. The swirling titular space phenomenon garnered the film a special effects Oscar nomination.
