MICKEY! MICKEY! MICKEY! MICKEY! MICKEY! MICKEY! MICKEY!
OK - so - Im a Mickey collector and any event that allows me to add seven VERY cute pins to my collection works for me. Very cute pins - and well themed to each land the game traveled through. The edition of 2,000 was also very nice as it made them quite collectable - and quite tradable. Their backstamps feature the 2002 Official Pin Trading logo as well as the Disneyland Resort logo and are also marked "Wheres Mickey?" Pin Event Limited Edition 2000 © Disney. When I read an event specific backstamp on a pin or see the edition noted it means that whoever designed the series or event "gets it" - that they understand the features that make a pin "collectable" and that some thought went into their creation.
Ill also mention - in the good - that the hand stamping and receipt checking system that was put in place for the SoundStation event to attempt to enforce purchase limits were all but absent for this event. Im sure that some other system is in the works - but there was none here. We made a couple LE purchases in both Disneyland and DCA and were told that the ink-pad had dried out and the batteries in the black light were dead so we were put on the DLR version of the "pin honor system" and promised not to abuse it when making more pin purchases. Sure - there were some who took advantage of this and bought more than their two pins per design - most - however - didnt. This was - I think - a function of the price per pin rather than the availability to buy more. I bought my one set - as I very rarely pay more than $6.50 for a trader - unless its edition is 1,000 or less.
