Unlike in previous versions, computer animation is used extensively here, employing a ‘pop-up book’ style to mask the obvious budget limitations, while totally skipping over such daunting locations as the Himalayas and the Pacific Ocean. The whole film lacks the thrill that such a globetrotting adventure would have; in its place is a cheap, on the make feel to it, as if the actors were trespassing on the sets to some other (better) movie.

- June 22nd: The Alamo’s Billy Bob Thornton stars in the black comedy Bad Santa, which will be available in two separate DVD versions: the original R-rated theatrical release and the unrated Badder Santa.
- June 29th: The Academy Award-winning Civil War epic Cold Mountain, starring Nicole Kidman, Jude Law and Oscar-winner Renee Zellweger, makes its DVD debut with a special two-disc edition. Also available today, just in time for Spider-Man 2, are two special collections of the animated web-slinger: Spider-Man: The 1967 Classic Collection (a six-disc collection of the vintage 52 episode animated series) and Spider-Man vs. Doc Ock, more toon adventures featuring the big screen sequel’s villain.

Robinson), No Deposit, No Return (David Niven, Don Knotts, Kim Richards and Darren McGavin), The North Avenue Irregulars (Barbara Harris, Susan Clark, Karen Valentine and Cloris Leachman), the underrated Sherman Brothers musical gem The One and Only, Genuine Original Family Band (Walter Brennan, Buddy Ebsen, Leslie Ann Warren and John Davidson), The Three Lives of Thomason (Karen Dotrice, Matthew Garber and Patrick McGoohan), The Ugly Dachshund (Dean Jones and Susanne Pleshette) and the animal adventures Charlie the Lonesome Cougar and Greyfriars Bobby.
