A golfcart appears carrying the guests of honor. It travels along the path in front of the Plaza Inn, towards the stage, followed by collection of Disney characters dressed for the holidays. The Disneyland Band plays Mr. Hope's theme song  Thanks for the Memories as the audience cheers and applauds.

All the Disney characters in their Christmas best welcome Mr. Hope

After they were settled in their director's chairs Ms. Harriss welcomes them, "Happy Holidays to Mr. and Mrs. Hope from all of us here at Disneyland. Happy Holidays!" 

Mrs. Hope responds, "Thank you, Cynthia. This is wonderful. Always a thrill to be at Disneyland. We came here when the Park first opened. I remember being here with my children. Now I bring my great-grandchildren. It’s lovely to see all of you. Have a wonderful Christmas. Bob is delighted to be here, as I am."

Ms. Harriss returned to the podium, “We are deeply honored to have both of you here at Disneyland along with your wonderful family. You have with you many of your children, grandchildren, and special friends that have joined you this evening. Thank you and welcome. Mr. Hope, we know that you have received thousands of honors in your career but there is only we here at Disneyland can bestow upon you. It is our way of saying thanks for the memories and especially the one that you’re creating for all of us here tonight. It is with great pride that we declare you Bob Hope and you Dolores Hope, honorary citizens of Disneyland. From the entire Disneyland resort congratulations, we know Walt would be very proud." A large framed certificate was presented to the couple by Mickey Mouse.
