Cynthia Harriss was named to the top position at Disneyland and given the title of Executive Vice President in January 1999. In December 1999 she was promoted to President of the Disneyland Resort. In addition to running Disneyland Park and Disney's California Adventure, she oversees all three Disney hotels on the property and Downtown Disney,
LaughingPlace.com: What is your exposure to Walt Disney?
Cynthia Harriss: As a child, I do recall seeing Walt on television and being in awe as I watched his dream of Disneyland come to life. Now, as a Cast Member of The Walt Disney Company, I continue to be inspired by his legacy each and every day.
LP: What do you admire the most about Walt Disney?
CH: Above everything, I have a tremendous appreciation for Walts commitment to his dreams - his unceasing courage and determination to pursue what made his heart sing.
LP: What is the greatest gift Walt left to the Company?
CH: I could name hundreds, but as weve been preparing to celebrate Walts centennial birthday, the gift that most comes to mind is how well Walt documented his entire life - from home movies, to photographs, to voice recordings, and of course his infamous quotations that fit every occasion. They are ways in which we can continue to benefit from his experience, wisdom and creativity, now and into the future.
LP: In your opinion, what is the greatest gift Walt left to the world?
CH: His creativity, optimism, and a new standard for family entertainment that has created countless lifetime memories for every child and child-at-heart who has encountered the "Disney Magic."
