The “enchanted neighborhood�? of Christopher Robin’s “childhood days�? must be a very friendly place. Obviously, all its denizens are friends, but the following pairs stand out from the cuddly crowd.

In the first Pooh short (1966’s Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree, the first segment of this feature compilation) established the closeness of boy and bear, but it’s bittersweet coda to the beloved stories (added to the film) that really warms the heart.

TIGGER and ROO

These buddies in bounce share more then just a hoppin’ habit: they both fill a void in each other’s families, the brothers they never had. Plus, Tigger teaches Roo that most special of tricks, the “whoop-de-dooper bounce�?.

While there is obvious affection shared between the perfect nanny and the jack-of-all-trades, it is not romantic in the least, per author P.L. Travers’ insistence. But they do have a jolly good time with one another.
