DVD Bonus Features:
In addition to the Disney Fast Play option, the disc includes
How to Cook a Movie, which takes the Chef Kronk idea and runs with
it. Patrick Warburton hosts a mock cheesy cooking show with “special guests?
Saul Andrew Blinkoff and Elliot M. Bour, a.k.a. Kronk’s talented
directors, who go on to explain how the movie was made. It’s a quick “making of?
feature that succeeds where many have failed before: with its Dating Game
music and the fabulous Eartha Kitt, it is actually funny.
Rounding out the disc are two above average set-top games, Kronk’s Brain Game and Pyramid Scheme, that both offer multiple branchings that allow repeated play and fun, another rarity in today’s DVDs.

In this ‘Toon Talk’ feature, I’ll briefly highlight a recommended film or DVD, outside of the Disney universe, of similar interest to the main subject. Classy Culinary Classic The 1987 Academy Award-winning foreign language film from Denmark, Babette’s Feast (Orion Classics) tells the simple tale of Babette, a French refugee who is taken in by a Protestant pastor and his two adult daughters and becomes their housekeeper and cook. Upon the father’s death, Babette decides to repay his kindness by offering to make his commemorative dinner, which turns into an elaborate feast that the guests aren’t quite sure what to make of. The film is a gentle story of overcoming preconceptions and embracing the joys of humanity, using food as a metaphor for life. Just be sure you’re not hungry before you watch it … Starring Stephane Audran, Birgitte Federspiel, Bodil Kjer and Jarl Kulle. Directed by Gabriel Axel. DVD available from MGM Home Entertainment. |
