Toon Talk: The Incredibles Blu-Ray
Four brand new bonuses lead off Disc Twos supplementary features, starting with the latest Paths to Pixar focusing on Story Artists, wherein youll learn all about what they do and how you can do it too (key word: draw!). Another Studio Stories tells the tale of Garys Birthday but wait, who is Gary? Meanwhile, the interactive feature titled The New Nomanisan: A Top Secret Redevelopment Plan (ostensibly a brochure that shows how Syndromes secret island headquarters has been transformed into a family friendly tourist destination) takes a weak idea and hammers it into the ground. Lastly, Ending with a Bang: Making the End Credits is a too-short look at the creation of The Incredibles celebrated end credit sequence. The highly stylized graphics were inspired by the color scripts designed for the main film, but a key component of the sequence, the Incredits score by Michael Giacchino, is barely even mentioned.
The remainder of the disc consists of classic content from the previous Incredibles DVD, including The Making of The Incredibles, the hilarious Mr. Incredible and Pals (with optional commentary from Mr. I himself and Frozone) and a whole basketful of Easter Eggs (though far from hidden now). Six deleted scenes (including an extended alternate opening) and the films original teaser are also included in high def for the first time, as well as six ABC Stunt Promos and three commercials that I believe are new to home video.
Also released this week, in anticipation of its sequels theatrical debut this summer, is a Disney DVD/Blu-ray combo pack of Pixars Cars. Both of the new releases, Cars and The Incredibles, include an offer for free admission to Cars 2, opening June 24, via the Disney Movie Rewards program.
Toon Talk Rating: B+
