The holidays are literally everywhere you look at Disneyland. From the moment you arrive on property you'll notice the decorations. It would be impossible to list everything to look for, so we've just tried to mention some of the things to look for in the major locations. But don't stop there. Wherever you decide to go you're sure to to see decorations appropriate for the location.

Disneyland Resort 2005 Pictures and Videos

Disneyland
Christmas can be found all over Disneyland. Nearly every area of the park is done up for the season. Especially noteworthy are the humorous decorations in ToonTown and the elegance of New Orleans Square. Other highlights at the include:

  • "it's a small world" Holiday: Back again is this Disneyland favorite. "it's a small world" is transformed into a holiday treat.

  • Haunted Mansion Holiday: Also back this year is this favorite. Based on Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas this attractions shows what happens when holidays collide.

  • Reindeer Roundup: In the back of Frontierland you can be a part of the "Holiday Ho-Ho-Hoedown", make Christmas Cookies and other crafts, see real reindeer and meet your favorite Disney characters. There is also a tree lighting around 5p each evening.

  • Disneyland's annual Candlelight Processional will be held December 3rd and 4th. The processional retells the story of Jesus Christ's birth with a live orchestra, choirs from Disneyland and the area and a celebrity host. This year's host is Dick Van Dyke. The ceremony can be viewed from around Town Square (warning: it tends to get crowded so arrive early). Dining packages with reserved seating can be ordered by calling 714-781-DINE.

  • A Christmas Fantasy Parade: Daily on Main Street and "it's a small world" mall.

  • Holiday Time at Disneyland tour: All of the magic of the holiday season comes to life as you explore a magical winter wonderland at The Merriest Place on Earth. Cost is $49 which includes express boarding onto "it's a small world" holiday and Haunted Mansion Holiday, a tour exclusive cloisonne pin and reserved riewing for A Christmas Fantasy Parade. Availability is limited. Call 714-781-4400 for reservations.

  • In honor of Disneyland's Golden Anniversary, the Christmas Tree on main street is lit in gold this year.

  • The spectacular "Remember...Dreams Come True" fireworks are performing all season long. But in Disneyland tradition, it does "snow" after each performance.

  • The Christmas Tree on Main Street is lit in a small ceremony each night at 4:50p

  • Christmas Cookie making and special holiday food around the park.

Disney's California Adventure
Christmas is celebrated a little differently in California where the sun shines all year long. Some of the DCA highlights include:

  • Santa's Beach Blast: Games, music by the Wave Riders, dancing with characters and meet Santa himself

  • Themed decorations throughout the park

Elsewhere at the Resort
The Christmas spirit extends to Downtown Disney and the Disney resorts as well. And don't forget - it's free!

  • Christmas decorations throughout with lots of Disney shopping at the World of Disney

  • Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen will hold Gingerbread House Workshops on Dec 10 and 11 and 17 and 18 (and 13 and 14 exclusively for Annual Passholders). The workshops are led by Jazz Kitchen Executive Chef Darrin Finkel. The price is $45 for two people including one gingerbread house kit, candy garnishment, free sodas and a Jazz Kitchen Jingle Bell and a holiday T-Shirt (additional admissions are $10 per perrson). Workshops are from 11a to 1p. For reservations call 714-776-5200.

  • All three Disney hotels are decorated for the season and each has its own themed Christmas Tree.
