Chairman of the Board John Pepper, Jr. brings the meeting to order and talks about challenges of last year’s global economy. Glad to tell us that Disney’s management team did a very good job of steering through these challenges. Limited short term impact of downturn on the company without forgetting the importance of providing the very best possible experience and to invest for the long term. Discussed visiting Disney ops in Europe and Russia and his Disney cruise with his family. Everywhere he goes he’s been impressed wit how the diverse and above all else passionate the Cast Members are and the difference they make with every person they meet. Having been on several boards, this one is top notch with an unusally good relationship with the management.
He’s excited about the nomination of Sheryl Sandberg, Chief Operating Officer of FaceBook, to the board who brings expertise in the online world and a great deal of international experience. He then introduced the rest of the Board of Directors.
