The Guardian reports Sam Mendes is in talks to direct Oz the Great and Wonderful, a prequel in which Robert Downey Jr is considering taking the title role as the wizard. The paper goes on to show that it is just one of a legion of Oz films in the works as L Frank Baum’s series is now out of copyright.
