Variety reports the Disney Company including Pixar has withdrawn from ASIFA and will no longer officially participate in the Annie Awards. According to a statement by Disney-Pixar president Ed Catmull, “We believe there is an issue with the way the Annies are judged, and have been seeking a mutually agreeable solution with the board. Although some initial steps have been taken, the board informed us that no further changes would be made to address our concerns.” This will not preclude Disney nor Pixar productions from the Annies as individual producers and artists may submit their work and Catmull in an email to employees encouraged them “to maintain their memberships and support for the Annies as they deem appropriate.”
