Walt Disney World Weather Report for June 22 from @WDW_Weather

Happy hump day one and all – and if you’re on vacation who cares?  If you are not on vacation – you are half way there.  My advice even if you aren’t on vacation is to try and get outside today because it is looking like this dry pattern is about to change just in time for the arrival of summer (hey, even Mother Nature can be a little late sometimes … it’s like she’s getting ready for prom).

Anyway, I’d plan on a similar day to what we saw yesterday with a few showers and thunderstorms popping up, but nothing is pointing to a widespread outbreak just yet.  If you will allow me to get some met speak in today, here goes – the ridge that has been controlling our weather for a while is going to drift slightly to the north.  Basically it’s this ridge that has kept us abnormally warm and dry for this time of year.  Moisture levels will remain quite dry (once again for this time of year), and high temperatures will make it into the mid 90s with heat indexes easily rising into the triple digits.  Late afternoon/early evening thundershowers cannot be ruled out as the two coastal sea breezes collide. Should anything BIG happen I will keep you updated as things unfold via Twitter (@WDW_Weather).

The pattern then begins to shift a bit towards one favoring more precipitation.  Southerly flow should moisten the atmosphere and that’s just one of the reasons I would bump shower activity to about 50 percent for Friday and Saturday and it looks like this pattern will continue into early next week.  As I stated yesterday, temperatures should come down a few degrees to more “normal” levels.

The National Hurricane Center is not currently monitoring any disturbed areas in the Atlantic for tropical development.
