Anyone heading to Walt Disney World in the next few days is going to want to check my Twitter page @WDW_Weather because I’m about to upload the latest computer model runs and as I said last week … Emily (though still not official as I am typing this) will be something to think about over the next week…so more on that later.
For today expect a greater chance of thunderstorms this afternoon – in fact they are a foregone conclusion however as with any summer day – whether or not the theme park area will be affected remains to be seen. BUT there WILL be thunderstorms this afternoon as there is plenty of moisture in the atmosphere to work with and with the daytime heating there will be plenty of factors to fire these things up – so get your theme parking done early if possible.
As the week goes on things get really complicated quite frankly and some of it does have to do with the development or lack of development to Emily. If I may be general (as most weathercasters are in the Sunshine State this time of year) – I expect more shower activity tomorrow (Tuesday) with far less on Wednesday and Thursday. The weekend is where things get really interesting as depending on Emily’s track (or what should be Emily by then) the system could bring us drier weather (yes drier) or if the system tracks more to the West we could have a very wet weekend ahead.
It’s safe to say that all interests in Florida and all along the southern East Coast of the US should keep their eyes trained on the weather the next few days. Models are not really in agreement AT ALL regarding strength of the system and I thought for sure that by the time I wrote this update this morning that we would have Emily on our hands. There is an air force plane investigating as I type this and I would be very surprised if there was not a closed circulation sometime in the next 24-48 hours. What happened over the weekend is if you looked at a sat image it looked like multiple circulations were trying to develop and the system was very elongated … NOW it looks as if the shower activity is clustering the way a standard tropical system would look. So again – something to keep an eye on for sure and I will have more information all week long.
