It’s refreshing to look at the national map from the National Weather Service first thing in the morning and see it a little less red. What on early am I talking about? Well one of the first things I do every morning is I head on over to www.weather.gov (no, not that silly blue box channel … the dot gov one) – on their splash page you get a quick snapshot of what’s going on for the day. Starting at the end of last week you could notice much less red (in this case meaning heat warnings) throughout the country. So congratulations on making it through one heck of a hot period! That said, as the country cools down, the tropics are heating up as we approach the climatological peak of the Atlantic hurricane season. In fact since I left you Friday morning we had two tropical storms form – both very weak in the grand scheme of things and neither pose any threat to the US but it’s time to pay close attention over the next couple of weeks.
So that was a long intro – partly because there isn’t much going on out there for Orlando … and unlike what I said above – it’s still plenty hot in Orlando around Walt Disney World. Dry air working it’s way throughout most of Florida is going to keep plenty of sunshine in the area making another hot day with temperatures in the mid 90s and heat indexes once again in the triple digits. There’s a better chance for afternoon thunderstorms today than tomorrow – but with daytime heating you can never rule anything out.
As I type this some early morning showers have been rolling from the gulf east and a couple COULD keep it together over the next hour or so (8-10am) – that said there will be sunshine once those showers pass which will fire up the next round this afternoon. Tomorrow actually looks to be even a little bit drier. Looking ahead the week looks similar to today through the end of the week with temperatures in the mid 90s and about a 30-40 percent chance for rain all week long.
