Welcome to the last week of May – what a wild couple of weeks we’ve had and I hope everyone was able to spend some time with family and friends over the holiday weekend. It was a wild weekend with a landfalling tropical storm in the southeast and extreme heat records in the middle of the country.
So June is a big month – the official start of summer AND the OFFICIAL start of the Atlantic Hurricane season. Both basins have been extremely active for this time of year with two named storms in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans so let’s continue to hope that is not a sign of things to come. Looking at extended patterns I will say that it looks like things should calm down a bit but Beryl packed quite a punch with over 22k in Jacksonville alone losing power after landfall.
This week is looking like a pretty good one – and I’m feeling better about it than last week. Some standard morning fog can be expected on the way to work or the park if you are lucky enough to be going. By the time we get to 11 or 12 the sun should be signing and I’m expecting highs in the mid to upper 70s.
Highs drop just a little bit tomorrow back down to the low or mid 70s but rebound nicely with more sunshine and less morning fog for Thursday. Highs may even get up around 80.
Lows will drop down into the upper 50s through Friday.
