Pictures: Redesigned Park Maps Debut at Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World has completely redesigned their park maps. Below is a look at the maps for each of the four major parks. Some things we noticed about the new maps:

  • The maps themselves are now oriented such that North is always on top. That means when looking at the Hollywood Studios map, the entrance is no longer at the bottom but is instead on the upper right.
  • The maps also appear to be completely to scale. As a result, an attraction like Fantasmic!, which is really off on the side, is not really represented on the main map but is instead in a small inset box. For the same reason, Space Mountain on the Magic Kingdom map is cut in half.
  • There is a QR code on the front of each map: Scanning it takes you to the Mobile Apps page of DisneyWorld.com where you can download the My Disney Experience app.
  • The back of the map has an ad for PhotoPass. This changed when Kodak stopped their sponsorship, but now thereis a separate image for each map (previously each map had a Magic Kingdom image on the back)
  • There are also small ads for Disney Vacation Club and Disney VISA on the back
  • When you open the map each, the top section shows some of the things Disney is highlighting for each park (like Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom and Wild Africa Trek) plus safety tips. Below that is a large ad for My Disney Experience and how it can help you with attraction info, maps and dining reservations.
  • Another flap has the usual “tips and information” and a section that explains how to get to all the other parks and resorts from that park
  • The map itself has an inset that lets you know all the parks have complimentary Wi-Fi and another that reminds you the My Disney Experience app can be used to get live wait times and GPS enabled maps.
