The Los Angeles Times reports Disney and Marvel are working on the first Marvel animated feature since the acquisition. “Big Hero 6” will be directed by Don Hall (Winnie the Pooh) and be set in Japan. The release date is currently set for November 7, 2014. Here’s an excerpt from the article describing the film:
“The storytelling aspects are very frenetic, very visceral,” Joe Quesada, Marvel’s chief creative officer, said of the comic. “It takes tropes of Japanese culture, manga, anime. There are giant dinosaurs that invade a city, big robots, youth fashion, cutesy stuff in the vein of Hello Kitty.”
This brings up an interesting question … will this be the first Disney film that they’re not allowed to advertise in a Walt Disney World theme park???
