Various reports indicate that Scott Derrickson is in final negotiations to direct Doctor Strange for Marvel. Derrickson’s credits are mostly in the horror genre The Exorcism of Emily Rose and the upcoming Deliver Us From Evil. He also directed the 2008 remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still. Previously Pixar’s Mark Andrews was rumored to be up for the job, but ultimately it appears he was not selected.
This news comes as Marvel is looking for a director to replace Edgar Wright on Ant-Man which is scheduled to be released July 17, 2015.
No release date has been reported for Doctor Strange.
UPDATE: Scott Derrickson seems to have confirmed the news with the following tweet.
