Following the retirement of Hayao Miyazaki, Studio Ghibli is planning on restructuring for the future. Studio co-founder Toshio Suzuki went on Japanese television to discuss the future of the studio. According to Anime News Network, Suzuki said, “On what to do with Studio Ghibli‘sfuture, it is by no means impossible to keep producing[movies] forever. However, we will take a brief pause to consider where to go from here.”
There had been rumors that Studio Ghibli would be closing, however Suzuki’s comments imply that the studio has a future.
Disney has a long-relationship with the studio having released The Wind Rises earlier this year in the United States.
