Disney’s THE LION KING celebrates two anniversaries among its 10 productions worldwide. The London production marks its 15th anniversary on Sunday, October 19th at The Lyceum Theatre. The award-winning musical has entertained over 12 million theatregoers and remains the West End’s best-selling stage production. It also recently became the sixth longest-running West End musical of all time. The critically-acclaimed production remains the West End’s most popular musical with over 810,000 guests per year. To celebrate this milestone and to thank Londoners for embracing and supporting the show, Disney gave away 1500 tickets earlier this week to the anniversary performance.
Celebrating its 3rd anniversary, the Madrid production of THE LION KING opened on October 21st, 2011 at the Lope de Vega Theatre. Produced locally by Stage Entertainment, 2014 has been the show’s strongest year in overall box office grosses and attendance since is premiere, with attendance levels nearing 100%.
