The owners of the Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round, in conjunction with Councilmember Tom LaBonge, are inviting Silver and Gold D23 Members to join a holiday celebration and bench dedication at the Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round in honor of Walt Disney’s late daughter.
Each D23 Member may bring one (1) guest. The event will take place from 3–5 p.m. for refreshments, merry-go-round rides, and holiday cheer. The Bench dedication will be at 3:30 p.m. From D23.com
“In the 1940s, on Sunday afternoons, a young father brought his daughters Diane and Sharon to ride the Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round. He had favorite benches where he sat eating peanuts and dreaming of the fabulous theme park he wanted to build. That man was Walt Disney and his dream was Disneyland.
On December 6, we will proudly honor the late Diane Disney Miller with a memorial bench at the very merry-go-round where she spent many happy afternoons with her father and sister.
That original bench will also be on display.
D23 Members and their guests are invited to attend the bench dedication, and enjoy free merry-go-round rides, carol singers, and refreshments as we celebrate Diane’s life and the holiday season.
Limited-edition, numbered pins that replicate the Gold Ring Pass once awarded at the Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round will be available for purchase for $30.00 each. There will also be an extremely limited number of original Gold Ring Pass tickets for sale.”
While an RSVP is not required, guests are encouraged to RSVP here so they can anticipate the number of members attending.
