Variety is reporting that new Star Wars attractions will be based on the new films and not the Original or Prequel trilogies. “There will be a much larger ‘Star Wars’ presence in our parks globally,” Iger said during a Q&A at Variety‘s Dealmakers Breakfast on Wednesday, sponsored by Delta Air Lines and Bank of America. “But we want to do this big, which takes time, and to do it right.”
Bob said that originally Imagineering developed attractions based on the first six Star Wars films but that he halted development until after production had begun on J.J. Abrams Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Iger said he wanted guests to not be disappointed that the new films were not represented.
Now that the film is in Post-Production and work having begun on Episode VIII and spin-off films, development has begun on Star Wars presence at Disney Parks.
The first six Star Wars films will continue to be represented by the Star Tours attractions that can be found across the globe.
