With Duke men’s basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski approaching his 1,000th career victory (could be as soon as Monday, Jan. 19 at Cameron Indoor Stadium against Pittsburgh, on ESPN, 7 p.m.), ESPN2 will present SportsCenter Special: Coach K-1K on Tuesday, Jan. 13 at 11 p.m. (or immediately following Duke’s home game against Miami on ESPN2).
The one-hour special will feature an extensive “Coach K” first-person interview and a player round-table discussion including ESPN college basketball analysts Jay Bilas and Jay Williams. Coach K-1K will also include a family conversation with his wife Mickie, and their daughters Debbie Savarino, Lindy Frasher and Jamie Spatola.
The players’ round table will feature former Duke players from throughout Coach K’s career:
Matt Brown (Army 1975-79, in Krzyzewski’s first recruiting class); Bilas (1982-86, Duke assistant coach 1990-92); Christian Laettner (1988-92); Jeff Capel (1993-97, current assistant); Nate James (1996- 2001, current assistant); Williams (1999-2002, 2002 National College Player-of-the-Year); Jon Scheyer (2006-10, current assistant); Quinn Cook (2011-present).
Coach K-1K will re-air: January 14 (1 a.m., 6 a.m., 9 a.m. ESPNU); January 15 (11 p.m. ESPN2); January 16 (5:30 p.m., 11 p.m. ESPNU); January 17 (9 a.m. ESPNU) and January 18 (9 p.m. ESPN).
