Disney has confirmed to Central Florida News 13 that they have pulled the Epcot Starbucks mug that featured a purple monorail. Monorail Purple was involved in a crash with Monorail Pink in 2009 that resulted in the death of Monorail Purple’s pilot. Disney then retired the colors purple and pink from the fleet, replacing them with teal and peach.
Disney confirmed this is the reason the mug was pulled.
The Starbucks mug is part of their “You are Here” collection that feature iconography of the location where the Starbucks is located. Mugs are currently available at Magic Kingdom and at the Disneyland Resort.
