The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that two operating participants have reached aggreements to match the wage increases Walt Disney World recently agreed to. This will result in a $10 minimum for workers at the restaurants run by Palmas Services and the Patina Restaurant Group.
Palmas Services operates the restaurants in Epcot’s Mexico pavilion Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. Patina Restaurant Group operates in Epcot’s Italy pavilion.
“Palmas and Patina deserve a lot of credit for matching the Disney union wage rates,” Unite Here Local 737 president Jeremy Cruz-Haicken said in an email. “Although they are smaller hospitality companies than Disney, they recognized that matching our union standard was the right thing to do.”
Unite Here is trying to secure a similar agreement at Buena Vista Palace Hotel & Spa, one of the Downtown Disney Area Hotels.
