Three Cast Members that refused to wear soiled clothes, causing the cancellation of a performance of the Festival of the Lion King at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, have been rehired. A federal arbitrator ruled that the termination was in violation of the contract.
The Cast Members said that their clean unitards became wet and soiled while hanging from a rack where sweaty costumes that had been rained on were pushed up against them. Disney leaders said that the two sets of costumes on the racks never touched and that the performers were given other options.
A Disney spokesperson said that they would comply with the ruling.
The fired Cast Members will also receive back-pay for wages they missed. The Cast Members were originally fired in June.
