The Orange Country Register is reporting that Disney has purchased the Carousel Inn which sits across Harbor Boulevard from the Disneyland Resort for $32 million. Disney purchases the 131-room Carousel Inn through a LLC called Carousel Holdings EAT.
Existing management will continue running the hotel.
The prior owner Good Hope International had no comment on the sale.
A Disney spokeswoman said that, “The Walt Disney Co. saw this as a strategic investment, as opportunities to purchase properties in close proximity to the resort are extremely rare.” She also said that Disney had no long-term plans for the property.
The Carousel Inn will not join the hotels of the Disneyland Resort portfolio that includes the Disneyland Hotel, Paradise Pier Hotel, and the Grand Californian.
