Disney has announced that they will be banning selfie sticks at their parks worldwide next week. The ban takes effect on June 30 at the Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World, while the policy will be enforced starting on July 1 at Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland.
A Disney spokesperson told the Orlando Sentinel that, “We strive to provide a great experience for the entire family, and unfortunately selfie-sticks have become a growing safety concern for both our guests and cast.”
Guests will be screened for selfie-sticks at the bag check locations. Those bringing the item will have the option to return the selfie stick to their vehicle or have the item checked by Guest Relations for pick-up upon their departure.
