o celebration the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Lucasfilm and HP have announced a new program dubbed “Art Awakens.”
Kicking off August 11th, “Art Awakens” will be a two-month-long fan art competition where Star Wars: The Force Awakens inspired art can be submitted on ArtAwakens.com. Winning amateur artists will have their work showcased as part of a professional art exhibit later this year.
Five winners will chosen by a judging committee that includes members from Disney, Lucasfilm, Industrial Light & Magic, and others. Winners will also have the opportunity to come to Los Angeles to attend the VIP opening night in addition to receiving prizes from HP. One grand prize winner will receive the HP “Bend the Rules” Award and an HP Notebook Computer.
Also coming to Los Angeles’ Gallery 1988 in November is a special Star Wars: The Force Awakens art exhibit featuring both top professional artists as well as emerging contemporary ones. That event will also include art auctions to benefit UNICEF Kid Power.
