ESPN has responded to controversal comments made by NFL Analyst and former player Cris Carter.
At the 2014 Rookie Symposium the hall of famer told league rookies, “Y’all not gonna all do the right stuff. I gotta teach yall how to get around all this stuff too. If you gonna have a crew, one of them fools got to know he going to jail.”
The video of these comments came to light following an ESPN Magazine profile of former NFL player Chris Borland which included a recollection of Carter’s comments while declining to attribute the quotes to Carter.
ESPN responded with the statement: “We completely disagree with Cris’s remarks and we have made that extremely clear to him. Those views were entirely his own and do not reflect our company’s point of view in any way.”
Carter later apologized for his comments via Twitter:
