Reports indicate that ESPN plans to eliminate as many as 350 positions, about 4.3 percent of its workforce. The layoffs may be communicated to effected employees as early as Wednesday.
This news comes as ESPN is paying increased sports-rights fees while experiencing some modest subscriber loss.
Recently, ESPN has attempted to cut costs by not renewing contracts of highly paid commentators such as Keith Olbermann and Bill Simmons.
No word on how these job losses will affect ESPN’s products and services.
