The Walt Disney Company, including Disney/ABC Television Group, announced its continued investment with Feeding America and is providing $1.5 million to strengthen local produce programs in Feeding America member food banks across country.
The Feeding America network provides meals to more than 46 million people, including 12 million children each year. Disney’s commitment will provide grants to more than 60 Feeding America member food banks across the country, helping to empower a network of food banks in rescuing and distributing produce to underserved families by inspiring creative approaches to impact local change.
This support will enable Feeding America to rescue more of the estimated six billion pounds of produce that goes to waste in the United States each year.
Increasing access to nutritious foods and engaging audiences to take action is a part of Disney Magic of Healthy Living’s long-standing commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles.
Since 2012, Disney has provided nearly $4 million to support Feeding America initiatives and nearly 60 food banks each year, including regions where Disney VoluntEARS, cast members and employees live, work and play.
