Much like Kevin Feige did when his Avengers record fell at the hand of Jurassic World, the team behind the six-month box office champion conceded their crown to The Force Awakens with this tweet:
One interesting note that the tweet, Frank Marshall, who produced Jurassic World is actually married to Kathleen Kennedy who serves as the head of Lucasfilm.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens surpassed Jurassic World‘s $208.8 million domestic opening weekend by nearly $40 million. Additionally, a stronger than expected Sunday gave the Force a record worldwide opening, barely besting Jurassic even without the help of China where Jurassic World opened at the same time as the United States.
