Iger Stumps for Chargers, Raiders Relocation Project

UPDATE: The NFL has decided to move forward with the alternate prospective stadium in Inglewood with the St. Louis Rams. The San Diego Chargers were given one year to negotiate to join them as well.

Today, Disney CEO Bob Iger presented in front of NFL owners in Houston to pursued them to vote “yes” in a bid for the San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders to share a new stadium in Carson, California (considered the Los Angeles market). That plan is one of two being considered — the other would see the St. Louis Rams moving to Inglewood, California.

According to the Orange County Register, the Carson project would cost around $1.75 billion. If approved, Iger would assist with the project in exchange for the right to purchase a piece of the Chargers or Raiders in the future (NFL rules would prevent him from having a stake in both).

At this time, a decision between the proposals has not been made, but ESPN reports that the first round of voting found the Inglewood project leading.
