Even before Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land were officially confirmed, in the minds of many fans, it was already are forgone conclusion that the Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show in Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ days were numbered. Today the Disney Parks Blog announced that the show would be closing for good on April 2, 2016 (presumably so no one thinks it’s a joke).
Lights, Motors, Action! opened in Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2005. The stunt show was part of a promotion celebrating Disneyland’s 50th anniversary where other Disney Parks “gifted” attraction to each other. Light, Motors, Action! started performing in Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris back in 2002 and still runs there today.
Over the years, the show has gone through minor changes, most notably trading out Herbie the Love Bug for Lightning McQueen for one of the performance’s sequences. The arena that currently houses Lights, Motors, Action! as well as the surrounding areas will soon undergo a huge makeover as new lands themed to Star Wars and Toy Story are added to the quickly-evolving park.
